With Memorial Day fast approaching, now is the time to get your plans finalized for that first big RV trip of the season. Some people travel across the country and some stay put at their permanent campsite. Either way, you still want to make it a great adventure. We've come up with a few ideas that will help make the most of your long weekend with friends and family! And most importantly,  we remind everyone why we celebrate Memorial Day in the first place.

Where To Go

While some people are looking for a trip that involves some sort of patriotic theme, others are looking for a relaxing getaway with little chaos. The best part about the RV is that you can go just about anywhere but still be comfortable. Those looking for a patriotic road trip may want to check out the famous Mt. Rushmore located in Black Hills, South Dakota. It's the place where you can learn about the birth, growth and development of the United States. And if you're looking for a place to park the RV, you'll find several options for RV Parks.

Looking for a low key place where you can kick back and relax? Then you'll want to look up KOA's across the country. They've got locations in 45 states so wherever you are, you're bound to be within reach of a KOA. Why KOA? They offer some of the cleanest and safest campgrounds in the country and they are packed with FUN.

What To Do

Your campsite is all setup. Now what do you do? Hopefully you've packed some games for the kids or a good book. And if you're a movie buff like me, you've brought along your 32' TV and the DISH Playmaker so you don't miss your favorite shows or better yet, the marathons of NCIS and Deadliest Catch.

If that's not cutting it for entertainment then think outside the box. We've compiled a great board of ideas on Pinterest. Check them out!

What To Eat

A camping trip wouldn't be complete without food. And the thing about food on-the-go is that you have to plan ahead and make it easy. We've found a great spot with 100+ Sweet Memorial Day Recipes that are sure to help that sweet tooth craving. And if you're looking for some good supper ideas then you'll want to check out these 21 foil wrapped camping recipes! They are absolutely mouth watering!

Why Memorial Day?

Lastly we want to remind everyone that Memorial Day is more than just a day off. Often times people forget exactly why we've been given this extra day off of work at the end of May. Memorial Day honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer. So while you're enjoying the company of family and friends this Memorial Day, remember all of the men and women who died while serving our country. They are the reason we have the freedom to enjoy weekends like this. May they be remembered forever.

Happy Travels and be safe this Memorial Day Weekend!
