Here are 7 crucial areas to secure or spruce up before your next RV trip.
- Inspect the Nooks and Crannies: Your RV might develop leaks after a harsh winter. Check the caulking around the roof, windows, vents, and more. Reseal anything that looks iffy to avoid future problems. Safety note: Be extremely careful working on the roof or elevating yourself.
- Check Your Tires (Including the Spare!): Like a deflated ball in cold weather, your tires lose pressure during winter storage. Pump them up before hitting the road, regardless of whether your RV was stored in a climate-controlled area.
- Under the Hood Maintenance: After sitting for a while, filters, fluids, and other components might need attention. Consider changing fuel filters and checking the battery. If unsure, seek assistance from a professional.
- Inspect All Pop-Outs (Including the Awning!): When extending your slides and pop-out features, pay close attention. Listen and watch for anything unusual as they open—the slightest difference might signal an issue that needs fixing.
- Check the Water System: Flush and check your water system thoroughly to remove any remaining antifreeze. Pressurize the system to detect leaks. If there's a leak, find and fix it pronto.
- Plug It In Safely: Only plug your RV into a power source after ensuring your water system is full. Test all appliances and detectors. Swap out old batteries for new ones to be on the safe side.
- Audio & Visual Check: Get your entertainment system back in action so you can enjoy TV in your RV when it's time to relax and unwind!
