Thanksgiving on the road can be fun and an experience you’ll never forget. Whether you’re heading out to visit family for Thanksgiving or you want to host your own from a campsite or trailer park, we have some tips for prepping for Thanksgiving on the road.
Keep the Menu Simple
Trying to prepare too many dishes can lead to disaster. Pick just a few of your favorites to prepare in the RV and either pick up the others or prepare them ahead of time. There are plenty of easy Thanksgiving dishes you can prepare.

Utilize Extra Grills and Appliances
If you bring an extra grill with you when you go RVing, be sure to fire it up! You can cook a full turkey on a grill (you may need to remove the top warmer shelf), or you can grill up some turkey breasts instead. Another method for cooking the turkey that gets rave reviews is a crock pot. Start early if you’re going with the crockpot method because it’ll be cooking for 8-9 hours.
Cook some foods like yams in the microwave first to speed up cooking time in the oven. Does your RV come equipped with an outside kitchen? Don’t forget to fire that one up too!
Finding Extra Space for Guests
If you’ve invited guests you can use TV trays to create extra seating options. You can also reserve a clubhouse at the RV Park, or if you’re in a warm area why not enjoy an outside eating area or picnic dinner?
Other Options
If you’re still not convinced or just don’t want to invest the time while on your vacation, don’t fret! Many RV Parks hold Thanksgiving feasts or potlucks, and local restaurants are sure to have a freshly prepared Thanksgiving dinner.
Whether you plan to cook dinner yourself, or find another way to celebrate we hope that your Thanksgiving is delicious!
